The treasure map

The main aim now is to practise directions with our students through reading and listening to the story The treasure map, that it is included in the LearnEnglishKids section of the British Council site.

This web site, as you will see in other modules and practises, offer the teacher lots of learning resources classified according to kind of activity (games, print and do, songs, stories and get writing).

Practice it!

The story does not go through the pages automatically to allow the students to carefully read it or review the previous page by clicking on Back. The can follow their own rate of work. Students can move from the story to the map by clicking on the View map and Close map buttons that appear on the screen. This option allows them to see the directions in practise. dplam1p2_4.jpg

  • Once the story is finished, they can play it again or, by closing the pop-up window, they can practise directions through a game or find words from the treasure map in a wordsearch

Activity framework

  • Methodology: The activity can be put into practise in cicle mitjà. The first part (listening to the story and reading it) can be done either in the class by using a laptop/computer with internet connection and a beamer or in the computer room in pairs with headphones.

Previously it is advisable to revise with the students the vocabulary related to directions.

  • Timing: an hour session (depending on the amount of activities you want to do)
  • Resources: Computers with Internet connection and headphones.

More things to do are suggested in the WANT SOMETHING TO DO NOW? section
