Internet en el aula is a joint project of MEC and the autonomous communities. It is addressed mainly to primary students, but students who are learning their first words in the foreign language, or who have learning problems will find this useful.
The Flash animations tell a story. While the students read and listen, they consolidate vocabulary and grammar structures. The exercises are varied: match images, sounds and words, drag and drop, follow instructions or writing.
Of the two materials available at the moment, El mundo de la magia is more suitable for young ESO students and practises reading more intensively.
A new window will pop up automatically. Click on My birthday party.
The story goes as follows: The hosts, Paul and Sarah, introduce themselves and make their preparations for Tony’s surprise party. They make a shopping list of what they’ll need and buy it. Then they phone their friends to invite them. After that, Tony’s friends arrive and introduce themselves. When he enters, he has a big surprise. They start the party and give him some presents. When the party ends, everybody goes home. Tony also thanks Paul and Sarah and leaves, too.
After the introduction of the two hosts, the exercises begin. Click on the arrow at the bottom right-hand corner to move on to the next screen and exercise.
Each screen must be done correctly before the students can move on to the next exercise.
The exercises are very intuitive and most of them do not include instructions. However, the owl is always there to provide help in Spanish.
If the students don’t know the meaning of a word, they can look it up in the glossary at the top right-hand side.
When everything has been completed, the students get a score.
