Bridging the gap

Bridging the Gap consists of twelve multimedia units to be put into practice in 6è de primària or 1r d’ESO.

This site offers an opportunity to use ICT in English. You can make good use of the variety and possibilities of these resources. It provides specific attention to the different abilities and interests of the ”atenció a la diversitat” pupils. These units can be done as a whole, if you have full access to the computer room for a term, or as individual units.

On the left you can see a menu where you find the Guia didàctica with notes on methodology, objectives, list of contents and evaluation.

Projecte d’Internet is a project, a guided writing activity that must be completed with information from the net.

Trets Culturals are an extra reading exercise.

Gramàtica shows that grammar points and a direct link to where they will be practised.

There is a Test for each unit. It can be done as a diagnostic test, before starting the unit, or as an assessment, after the unit has been completed.

The Glossari and Diccionari Il·lustrat are always available for reference.

  • There are 12 different units that cover different topics:

  • Enter to My family. It shows an album with some photos. On the left you have the menu and then the 4 different skills:
  • Listen, which are very easy activities related to the names of the family, their age, some adjectives,…
  • Speak, which are dialogues to complete and also to record.
  • Read, which are exercises such as a crossword, a reading sheet to complete, a true-false activity,..
  • Write, which are writing activities to complete (a description, adjectives, an e-mail,…).

Click on one of them and do it. Check when you finish.

Under each folder there is a grammar explanation and an exercise. Do it and Check it. If it’s not correct, you can Try again.

  • Remember you can do Projecte d’internet, which asks the students to write a biography of a real or an imaginary person and Trets culturals, which explains how birthdays are celebrated around the world.

Activity framework

  • Methodology: Individually or in pairs.
  • Timing. It could be an activity to do in class for a whole term, or a project around one of the topics for a limited period of time, or even indvidual activities to complement the work done in class.
  • Resources. You may need headphones for the listening activities, and a microphone to record the students’ productions.
  • Complementary material. Hand this self-evaluation worksheet to your students so that they can control their own work.
